ÉCRITURES D'APRÈS MUSIQUE 1965-1966
OISEAUX 2011-2012
For its second exhibition, the Studiolo at the Galerie de France presents two unpublished series of Chinese ink on paper by Judit Reigl, created over a span of more than forty years.
-
One, titled "Les Oiseaux" (2011-2012), consists of continuous movements of flight itself, traced on long unrolled papers as the artist advances "on all fours" with only a natural sponge dipped in ink as her tool.
-
The other, "Ecriture d'après musique" (1965-1966), comprises a series of small formats, 21 x 27 cm. Injured in the elbow and unable to work on large formats, the artist leans on a table and, using only the strength of her wrist, attempts to follow, by writing, the music she listens to non-stop on France-Musique.
"... the rhythm, the impulse, the pulsation: the very primordial source of music and art."
On this occasion, the Galerie de France publishes a booklet reproducing 22 writings inspired by music, accompanied by a text by Judit Reigl written in February 2012.
